Frequently asked questions

Which files can I convert to WAV?
Audio files such as MP3, M4A, OGG and FLAC, plus the audio track of video files such as MP4 and MOV. Free conversions allow 3 files a day, up to 100 MB each.
Does WAV sound better than my original file?
No. A WAV made from a compressed file keeps what that file contains and loses nothing more, but it can't restore detail that was already removed. Choose WAV because your software prefers uncompressed files.
How big will the WAV be?
About 10 MB per minute at 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, stereo. 24-bit files are 50% larger, and mono files are half the size.
Is the converter free?
Yes, within limits: 3 files a day, up to 100 MB each, with ads. You don't need an account.
Are my files private?
Converted files are deleted 1 hour after they are made. Nobody else can open your download link. Read the privacy page for how we handle files and logs.
Is it legal?
Only convert files you own or have permission to use. You are responsible for the files you add. Our guide on the legal side explains more.
Why did my audio conversion fail?
The most common causes are files over 100 MB, damaged files and files that aren't really audio. Check the file opens on your device and try again.
